Last night while I was going for my evening run on the Hudson River Park I passed by the Car Wash on 6th Avenue @Broome St.
There, I noticed a flamboyantly red Chevy Camaro entering the tunnel. It caught my attention because it looked pretty shiny to me, and it made me wonder why somebody was washing it...but I was busy (mentally) preparing for the 12 miles that I was about to run so I just let that thought go.
However, on my way back (almost one hour later) I saw that the same car was still at Car Wash. The owner had just finished cleaning the interiors and was now putting a coat of wax on it.
I stopped and noticed that the owner was really out of shape. He was also smoking a cigarette, and overall he looked pretty unhealthy.
Now, I don’t (and will never) know anything about this man, and I don’t want to judge him BUT what I just saw made me wonder: “Will he be better off he would spend the same amount of time he spends on his car, taking care of his body?”
We tend to forget it, but our body is the most amazing machine. It performs thousands of different tasks at the same time, and can takes us anywhere. And we must take care of it, as much as we can. Because in the end that’s all (and everything) we have.
Eating healthy, exercising, and getting proper rest is all we have to do so that this amazing machine can run even smoother, better, and for longer.
It’s totally a win/win situation.
