August 26, 2011

Time for another book review, this time we’re talking about “Nutrition Periodization for Athletes: Taking Traditional Sports Nutrition to the Next Level” by 2008 Olympic Dietitian Bob Seebohar published by Bull Publishing Company.
This is the kind of reading we love here @TheIronYou, as it underscores all the things we believe in.

The Comeback Of Bodyweight Exercises

August 16, 2011

Bodyweight exercises are back! Yes, you heard loud and clear, the new trend in fitness is actually a pretty old school one. And that is even more surprising if you think that we are living in an age when technological innovation is impacting pretty hard in the fitness world.
Numbered weight stacks, moveable seats and removable pins are increasingly taking a back seat to a decidedly low-tech sculpting apparatus: your body.

Have You Ever Tried Cacao Nibs?

August 15, 2011

Taking up again the topic of dark chocolate, I have recently discovered raw cacao nibs and, needless to say it, how ridiculously healthy they are for you. If you can handle their slightly bitter taste, then these little beans are definitely something awesome to incorporate into your daily diet.

Skateboarding: A Rad Workout

August 8, 2011

Lately the popularity of skateboarding has soared as a means of both recreation and exercise. In fact, skateboarding is a great workout: you use almost all your muscle groups to maintain balance hence you burn lots of calories.
Unfortunately, skateboarding is often overlooked as an activity for teenagers but that’s too bad because it can be a very good way to get in shape, drop those few extra pounds, have a lot of fun and, why not, even develop a new hobby.

One Avocado A Day Keeps The Doctor Away

July 31, 2011

I’m became obsessed with avocados more or less a year ago. I have to thank my Aussie friend Rey for making me discover this amazing fruit.
We were having lunch in the kitchen in our Loft and I remember precisely what she said while digging into a ripe avocado: “OMG I love avocados! They’re so good and they are also very healthy. You should try some Mike”. I try it and it was indeed an excellent one; since that moment I got completely hooked on avocados. Of course, before including them in my eating regimen I did my fair share of research...

Recently, a new research conducted by five nutrition and public health experts at Harvard University and published on The New England Journal of Medicine, has analysed the factors that influence weight gain.
The result of such study are astonishing, to put it mildly. Most of all, they support all our views and especially what we believe in here on TheIronYou.

Actually, they support the very reason this blog exists. You might have then figured out how excited we are. So, let’s see what is all about...

What's Wrong With HFCS?

July 21, 2011

There has been a lot of controversy about high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in the news and online lately, particularly about its relationship to obesity, diabetes, and the food chain in general. Football legend David Beckham has a secret weapon in his fight to play for England again: Bikram yoga.
He has recently confessed that he aims to play top-level football into his 40s thanks to the hot yoga practice.
