It's no secret that we all want and try to look at our best because that makes us feel good and gives us confidence.
But the real question is: how can you achieve this?
Of course part of it is connected to the genes you were born with; but that doesn’t means that there is nothing you can do about it.
Think for instance at the cosmetic industry that generates every year sales for billions (if not trillions) just with the promise of make you look better; but also to the plastic surgery business which pledges to enhance your appearance through surgical and medical techniques in just few hours.

However, a number of published studies around the world have showed that leading a healthier life can help you not only feel better, control your weight, have more energy, and lower your chances of developing certain diseases but also to look better (for instance by reducing skin problems, improving your general posture, etc).
So here come the question: why people are willing to spend buckets of money when they can achieve similar results just by being healthy?
There is no a straight answer for this. Mostly, being healthy involves investing a considerable amount of time and energy and in today’s society most of the people are not willing to make sacrifices for it. Let’s face it, why you should give up a lot of things that makes your life more enjoyable?
However, the rewards are so great that it might really be worth the effort. And most of the rewards go well beyond your mere physical appearance.
A healthy lifestyle is all about eating “right” foods, sleeping well, and exercising to keep fit and other activities that improve your general health. That means that you keep your weight in check, you are careful on what you consume as well as maintaining a healthy fitness routine.
The benefits are not limited to the physical but they are also psychological.
The fact that you are able to reduce stress levels significantly and being more relaxed are some of the psychological benefits you get. You also become more energetic and have a high self esteem.
The main benefit accrued from it is you get protection from a host of common diseases brought about by a poor lifestyle. By living healthy, you strengthen your immune system to be in a better position to fight diseases.
Living a healthy lifestyle starting early in life saves you a lot during your old age in terms of having a strong healthy body hence avoiding most age old illnesses such as heart attacks and strokes.
It also entails having fun which promotes a healthy mind through participating in social networks and doing activities you enjoy with peers. This also is a form of relaxation and make sure you go for regular health checkups as part of living a healthy lifestyle.
